Riverfront 47

Balmori Presentation

Our goal as designers is to not just think about the human, but to think of the ecology of the site and all living things in it. When we first saw the site, we were amazed by the diverse and dense vegetation, and we wanted to be sure to protect the mature trees. A forester from the Department of Conservation and National Resources volunteered her time to walk the site and inventory all of the significant trees. Most of them are mature trees that natively grow on the site (oaks, maples, sycamores), but there are also some invasive species that need to be controlled (Japanese knot weed).
